As one of the world’s oldest tyre brands with over a century of experience in tyre innovation, our rich European heritage is the story of our past and the inspiration for our future.

Our 110 year old history has driven us to become a leader in first-class tyre design and manufacturing as we continue to innovate towards the perfect driving experience. Since 1908, we have been pioneering exceptional tyre products for our customers. From our first bicycle tyre produced in 1910, to the high-performance tyre technology we produce today.

1908
Our founder, Emile Louis Constant Schiff, acquires the Guttapercha Company in Delft, the Netherlands.
1909
We relocate to Loosduinen with a new name, N.V. Rubberfabriek Vredestein.
1910
Our first bicycle tyre is manufactured.
1912
Our first passenger car tyre is manufactured.
1934
Our first bicycle tyre factory opens in Doetinchem, the Netherlands.
1952
We establish the N.V. Nederlandsch-Amerikaansche car tyre factory in Enschede with B.F. Goodrich.
1962
Our company merges with N.V. Rubberfabrieken Havea Raalte.
1965
We introduce the first Vredestein winter passenger car tyre, the M&S 187, to the market.
1966
The release of the Sprint, our own textile-belted radial tyre for passenger cars.
1972
Our first steel-belted radial tyre, the Sprint Steel, is brought to market.

We introduce our first reflective bicycle tyre.
1979
The introduction of Space Master, a unique, foldable spare tyre concept for passenger cars.
1979
We reveal the Vredestein Snow+, a winter tyre for passenger cars which quickly gained an excellent reputation and remains the foundation to Vredestein’s global market position as a leading winter tyre brand.
1991
The introduction of the Quatrac, our first all-season tyre for passenger cars.
1993
We reveal the Vredestein Fortezza race tyre to the world which supported Leontien Zijlaard-van Moorsel to win the world cycling championship.
1995
The Snowtrac becomes part of our winter tyre range utilizing high silica technology.
1996
The Wintrac becomes a new addition to the Vredestein winter tyre range, suitable for safe, high speed winter travel.
1997
We enter a partnership with award-winning Italian automotive designer, Giugiaro.
1999
The creation of the Flotation Pro, our first radial implement tyre.
1999
Our partnership with Giugiaro leads to the reveal of the Sportrac tyre.

2001
We present the Sprint Classic, a specialised tyre for classic cars.
2004
We enter the race for gold in the Olympics with Leontien Zijlaard-van Moorsel with our Fortezza Pro TriComp tyres and win in the road bicycle time trial event.
2004
We pick up the pace with the first Vredestein car tyre with a speed index Y for speeds above 270 km/h is introduced to the market.
2005
The introduction of the Wintrac xtreme, the world’s first high-performance winter tyre with speed index W.
2006
We present the Ultrac Sessanta to the world, a unique ultra-high performance tyre for passenger cars.
2006
Another win with Cadel Evans and Robbie McEwen in the Tour de France using our Vredestein Fortezza tyres.
2007
Jakob Fuglsang becomes a world mountain biking champion using Vredestein Black Panther tyres.
2009
Apollo Tyres Ltd, global tyre manufacturer, acquires Vredestein to create Apollo Vredestein.
2012
As demand grows, we expand our production capacity for agricultural tyres for the OE and aftermarket.
2013
Another world first for us with the ‘Air Master by Vredestein’ developed with a renowned German car manufacturer, a unique expandable front spoiler for premium sports cars.

2013
We develop our first harvester tyre with Vredestein F+ technology (IF), the Traxion Cereall.
2014
We push the boundaries with the introduction of the Wintrac xtreme S with speed index Y for speeds up to 300 km/h.
2014
Vredestein becomes the first brand in the world to introduce an all-season tyre with the speed index Y with our Quatrac 5 tyre.
2014
Our Enschede plant upgrades to enhance our operations with a new tandem mixer.
2015
We introduce the Traxion Harvest, a new line of tyres for agricultural harvesters.
2015
Our agricultural range expands with the Traxion Versa and Endurion, new agro-industrial tyres for telescopic loaders and agro-industrial applications.
2015
The Vredestein Traxion+ and TraxionXXL are approved by German research institute DLG after extensive testing.
2015
The ‘Air Master by Vredestein’ receives international recognition courtesy of the prestigious DKG Product Award during the International Rubber Conference.
2016
We open our R&D Centre dedicated to OEMs in Frankfurt and triple our investment in future research and development.
2017
We open the doors to our new production plant in Hungary.

Our Future:

The Vredestein timeline is one of continued transformation and innovation. We’ve celebrated world firsts, gold medals, new partnerships and groundbreaking advancements in tyre technology. The legacy which we have built over our 110 year history is one which we are proud of and work to not only uphold, but refine with every year that goes by.
